#268: Don’t Take Credit for Other People’s Content

“The last thing you want is to receive an email for a lawsuit. For SEO purposes, sources can be inserted as hyperlinks with the right anchor texts. If you want to be more accurate however, you may cite the author of the piece and link to it. The latter is better, especially if you’re referring to educational materials such as research papers.”


It’s easy to accidentally reference an idea in your content without attributing the source— especially when it’s written for a quick blog post or timely newsletter. Aside from being honest with your readers, it’s important to give credit where credit is due. If the original source of an idea discovers you’ve shared their content with your readers, they may share your post with theirs. It’s a win-win for both parties.
